Professional Development Criteria
The title, and therefore the focus, of our Title III grant is Strengthening Academic Programs through Integration of Technology. One of the benefits of the grant is having funding available for professional development related to the overall goals of the project. To determine whether or not a specific conference or training session can be funded through Title III, it must be demonstrated that an activity provides the participant with technology skills to support the teaching-learning process. If you can answer “yes” to some or all of the following questions, and funding is available, chances are the grant can cover the request:
Title III grant funds cannot be used to cover the cost of peer group meetings or general conferences in your discipline, but can be used if you are learning a new instructional technology skill or advancing a current instructional technology skill to enhance your teaching. For example, the grant may fund training/conferences that teach you the skills and tools of Blackboard or PowerPoint, but if you are an Instrumentation instructor, it will not cover current Instrumentation Technology applications. Although Instrumentation is a technology, this is an example of a technology specific to a discipline as opposed to instructional technology. Title III professional development funds are available to faculty and staff. To request funds, visit the Request Forms area of this website. All requests for Title III Professional Development funding are reviewed by the Title III Selection Committee. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Kathy Kleppin, Title III Activity Director, at extension 4333 or nrklepk@nr.edu. < Back to Documentation listing |
