Year 2 (2002 - 2003)
Summer Institute
Theme: A Hybrid Learning Experience
View the Year 2 SI Agenda
The 2003 T3 Summer Institute will be held Tuesday, June 3 - Friday, June 13. Fourteen faculty have been selected
to participate in the event focused on hybrid teaching and learning.
The goals of this year's institute are:
- To model hybrid teaching
- To help participants feel comfortable with the concept of hybrid teaching and learning
- To help participants design and develop hybrid instructional modules
To keep with the theme of hybrid teaching and learning the institute will be delivered in true hybrid fashion using Blackboard for content
organization, some interaction, and to deliver much of the instruction. Before, during and after the Institute, participants are encouraged
to interact with peers and contribute to the overall hybrid learning experience by frequently logging into this Blackboard course. For each
day of face-to-face instruction, participants will have an asynchronous activity to engage in online. In addition to interacting with the "official"
Summer Institute course in Blackboard, they will also have access to their own unique Blackboard course. It is our hope that participants will use the
Summer Institute to build this course for use in future semesters.
Topics include hands-on applications such as PowerPoint, Camtasia, Office XP and Blackboard; many discussion topics and presentations
including learning and teching styles, copyright issues, and instructor-student communication; and even a field trip to Virginia Tech.
